San Francisco Shopping Centre Expansion Completed

San Francisco (September 2006) --- With its five-story Nordstrom store and 64 other retailers, the San Francisco Centre in the heart of the city on Market Street is already a destination, drawing 9 million visitors a year.

But attention, hard-core shoppers: $460 million in renovations are nearly complete, bringing a long list of new stores and unique services -- including WiFi throughout the mall -- to the renamed and vastly expanded Westfield San Francisco Centre.

The new Centre officially opens September 28 and will feature Bloomingdale's second-largest location after the chain's flagship in Manhattan, and only the second one in the Bay Area. It will house the sole West Coast location of mi adidas, an athletic shoe customization station located inside the Adidas Sport Performance Store. The new Westfield Centre will also contain the first Northern California locations of upscale grocer Bristol Farms, trendy women's clothing store MNG by Mango of Spain, and Martin + Osa, a fashion chain for the post-college crowd being launched by teen magnet American Eagle Outfitters.

There will be a number of restaurant projects moving into the space, including Lark Creek Steak from Bradley Ogden and restaurateur Michael Dellar; 'wichcraft from New York's Tom Colicchio; another location of Charles Phan's Out the Door from Slanted Door; Chris Yeo's Straits Café will be closing its Geary Street location in July and moving in here as Straits Restaurant; Zazil from the folks behind Colibri Mexican Bistro; a high-end patisserie called Cocola Bakery; the Dome Café under the historic Emporium dome; and a Food Emporium with 15 fast-casual eateries and a Bristol Farms market. There will also be a Bloomingdale's, Century Theatres and a Burke Williams Day Spa and Massage Center. Westfield San Francisco Centre is located at 865 Market Street, with separate entrances on Market, Mission, and Fifth Streets as well as two entrances from the BART and Muni Powell Street Station.
